This position will be filled under the Government Publishing Office (GPO) Pathways Recent Graduates Program which is located in Customer Services, Seattle Regional Office.
The employee is an account representative for customer agencies and provides a single focal point and source of advice and assistance for publishing and printing projects/services presented by customer agencies. Upon development in this position, the employee is required to have a thorough knowledge of printing principles, regulations, methodologies, and processes as he/she develops in this position. Additionally, the employee provides contracting assistance to agencies and/or arranges for vendors to provide services related to publishing and printing.
The employee reports to the Manager, who assists in the most difficult contracting and printing services work, administrative matters and program guidance. At this level, the entry-level trainee employee is developmental to the full performance level, PG-12. As a trainee, the employee receives progressively more responsible work assignments to prepare for performance of the work with increasing independence and an increasing demand of technical printing principles, regulations, and practices. Knowledge and familiarity of printing and publishing programs is required for this work and, at this level, the work is reviewed for satisfaction of program objectives and fulfillment of customers' needs and is continually reviewed for compliance to technical requirements and thoroughness and adequacy of approach.
Selectee will work shift 1 and have a tour of duty of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
•Serves as a team member providing individualized avenues for assigned agencies to communicate the organizations overall multimedia programs and requirements.
•Provide input for GPO planning and workload projections based on customer agency requirements.
•Works with internal GPO specialists in order to fulfill agency printing requirements, answers and acts upon complaints and, in consultation with senior specialists, recommends solutions to simple problems. Works with a senior specialist, drafts procurement specifications, plans, and schedules bid openings.
•Outlines draft specifications from broadly described customer agency objectives. Drafts statements of work from customer requirements, including straightforward technical specifications. This task requires the employee to extract from the customer clear ideas about their needs and to interpret technical printing industry information.
•Attends meetings with senior specialist, management and printing officials from Federal agencies and commercial printing vendors to confer/consult on planned requirements and problems.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
