Job Specifications

Position Title:
Business Development Manager
Location: Northeastern United States
The primary goal of the Business Development Manager is to improve GMN’s market position and to assist in achieving financial growth. This position builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals, and maintains extensive knowledge of the industries and current market conditions. They will work with the internal team and sales and marketing staff to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for GMN. Business Development Managers will also help manage existing clients and ensure they have a positive experience with GMN.
Essential job responsibilities:
> Manage a variety of assigned accounts, ranging in size, by establishing business partnerships with new customers and maintaining relationships with existing customers. Does this by:
> Working closely with the Account Managers in the Customer Service Department to provide best service to the customer by ensuring customer expectations are known and met.
> Effectively communicating GMN’s commitment to total quality in building solid business partnerships based on continuous improvement, and may use plant tours as a sales tool.
> Attending trade shows and conferences, both educational and customer oriented.
> Attending to repeat orders as needed for “special attention” items.
> Meet/Exceed annual pre-determined sales goals and quotas by identifying viable business opportunities, given GMN’s strategic direction and fulfillment ability. Also by negotiating and closing business deals to ensure short-term revenue and profit, and long term business relationships are established.
> Provide detailed information for Request for Quotes on new projects and provide feedback to the GMN team on how our quotes compare to the competition.
> Research and collect background information on potential customers and competitors in assigned territory by frequently utilizing a variety of communication vehicles in order to identify business opportunities and to provide information for the company on the state of the marketplace and how well GMN competes in that marketplace. May do this by attending industry functions, such as association events and conferences, in order to provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
> Participate in on-site evaluations, when necessary, to resolve quality issues.
Required education and/or experience:
> Bachelor’s Degree required.
> Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or engineering preferred.
> 2-4 years of experience in sales development.

> Strong written/verbal communication
> Good decision-making skills
> Ability to work under time constraints with changing priorities
> Outstanding interpersonal skills
> Excellent oral presentation and public speaking skills
> Proven successful sales experience in industry
> Excellent organizational skills and time management techniques
> Must be self-motivated
> Able to develop sales presentations for all audiences that lead to partnerships and sales
> Expert user of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, proficient with personal computers and willingness and ability to learn specific software applications.
